On My Radar: Spring
Dipping my toes in... May favs & saves.
Trying something new
Hi!
For the past few years I’ve been sporadically sharing my favs & saves over on my Magnetism newsletter. If you’re unfamiliar, I run an online vintage store where I curate bi-weekly-ish vintage collections, alongside consciously handmade goods from my favourite artists/makers. I’ve had the Journal on my website for years now and I love putting together those posts, but lately I’ve been craving a separate —more casual— space to share and connect, apart from my work/website.
Sometimes I just want to share a playlist, recent thrift find, or my ebay wishlist without the formality of a blog post or limitations of an ecom newsletter. I think this may be the place.
As a lifelong collector and curator, I have a never-ending supply of links, images, miscellaneous musings that are collecting dust in their folders. My phone notes and Pinterest boards are full of articles I’ve read, links to dreamy vintage pieces, random items that improved my daily routines, and other bits and pieces that made me pause my scrolling.
So, this is me dipping my toes in. Here are some things I’ve been loving, saving, and ruminating on lately.
Vintage Finds
I’m always online window shopping (god forbid a girl has hobbies). Here are 10 things that caught my eye this week.
BCBG Max Azria Sheer Silk Skirt
Calvin Klein Studded Leather Belt
Sterling Silver Perfume Bottle Pendant
Knobby Hand Blown Glass Tumblers
Soundtrack for Spring
I’ve had the same 3 albums on repeat lately.
Something new: For Melancholy Brunettes (& sad women) - Japanese Breakfast
Something old: Paper Mâché Dream Balloon - King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
Something that grew on me: Noon - Twain
My current go-to playlist: Blooming—Becoming
Good Things
5 random things I’m loving lately.
Grocery Store Orchids: My fav grocery store usually has a little clearance bin with beautiful $6 orchid stems, and they are a sweet little treat every few weeks.
Healthy Hoof Nail Cream: Bought this for the cute packaging and to save my dry cuticles, and WOW my nails have never been stronger/longer.
A Grandmother Begins the Story by Michelle Porter: I picked this book up in Montreal last winter and finally started it this month. It’s a beautiful story that follows 5 generations of Métis women and their relationships to family, land, grief, music and identity. The chapters are short and read more like collected diary entries or logs, jumping around the different characters, perspectives, and timelines. I was drawn to this story because of how much I loved Pachinko— which follows a Korean family through multiple generations. I’ve been savouring this book, slowly chipping away at a few small chapters at a time like short stories because I don’t want it to end.
Blood Orange Hi-Chew: A new (to me) flavour of my favourite candy and I’m obsessed. Wishing I bought more than 1 pack.
Typology Tinted Lip Oil: I was sent this lip gloss as a PR gift a few months ago but didn’t try it until recently. I love the subtle shine and lightweight hydration, not sticky at all! I have ‘Powder Pink’, but want to try the other colours ASAP, specifically Black Cherry.

Objects of Desire
3 wishlist pieces that I’m saving for/inspired to thrift.
Kotn Off Shoulder Tee. I love a good white tee, and the slouchy asymmetric silhouette of this one is dreamy. I’ve loved Kotn’s basics for years now so I know this would be a high quality addition to my closet.
Big Bubble Glass Ring: I love fun statement rings for Spring/Summer, and this glass one is so good. I love how organic the design is, and that the clear glass tones down the size and shape. I found this one by Maureen Joelle Jewelry on Etsy, and there are so many other sweet handmade glass rings/artists on there.
Paiden Swift Long Shorts: I first saw these on daughterofahoarder on IG, and I love the structured silhouette of these. I’m very into long shorts and culottes/capris, and have been thrifting lots of similar ones for myself and Magnetism. Paiden is a small slow fashion brand from London that exclusively uses deadstock fabrics!
This was fun, let’s do it again sometime. <3
Until then, you can find me on IG at trouserlady or magnetismstore, Pinterest, and my website.
